AUSTRIAN Federal Railways (ÖBB) will suspend its Vienna - Paris and Berlin - Paris/Brussels Nightjet services from August 12 to October 25 due to extensive infrastructure work taking place in France and Germany.

The Vienna - Brussels service will continue to run three times a week as scheduled, with all services due to resume normal operations on October 28.

ÖBB says that it has worked with its partners German Rail (DB), French National Railways (SNCF) and Belgian National Railways (SNCB) to expand the Nightjet network of overnight trains across Europe in recent years, which makes the temporary impact of the infrastructure work in France and Germany “all the more regrettable.”

“In order to avoid unexpected train cancellations, delays and inconvenience for our customers, we unfortunately have to temporarily suspend the operation of some Nightjet routes,” ÖBB says. “No tickets have yet been sold for the affected trains.”

For passengers wishing to travel from Vienna to Paris in an environmentally-friendly way, ÖBB suggests alternative daytime services or travelling by Nightjet to Brussels and from there by Eurostar to Paris.
